WE have had so much rain this summer that they are having to let water out of the dam by our house almost everyday. This makes for very good fishing in the Stones river below the dam. I see a lot of people down there lining the banks almost every day, even when it is raining there is no room on the banks of the river. They catch a lot of stripped bass below the dam and when the water is being released it is very good fishing. One good thing about a wet summer is the good fishing made below the dam.

With the shocking death of Steve McNair on July 4th has come the revelation that he was having an affair with a 20 year old girl. The same girl who it is said has shot him to death. I know that a lot of people hold McNair in high regards and for his feats on the football field I am one of those. His actions off the field have been shocking and disturbing and it seems have resulted in his death. My own opinion on this is that if he was at home with his family on July 4th he would be alive today.

Over the years I have always worked all of the holidays, it just made sense to me to get paid extra to work on a holiday. Now I have a 6 year old grandson who likes to have fun on holidays so I now want them off from work. This has been a big adjustment for me and one that I am having fun with too. On the Fourth of July we will go fishing and watch fireworks. Not a big party but it will be fun for us and I can not wait for the day to get here it will be a blast and I do not have to work, a big bonus for me.

As the summer season continues it has never been more in my thoughts than it is right now, what a mistake it was to rear down the only outdoor venue we had here in the Nashville area. I do not count the stages they set up downtown for the CMA Music Fest every year. It was a tragedy for them to sell and tear down Starwood a couple of years ago and the outdoor music scene here in the so called Music City will never be the same again.

Most people do not get my attempts at humor. I have a very dry sense of humor and it rubs most people the wrong way. Not that I care but it does. I try to be as nice as possible and then I give up and just do not give a crap any more. I say hello to everyone and if they do not respond as people in Nashville, well certain parts of it (Brentwood) tend to do. Some of the time I just grump around to see what people say. They tend to say nothing at all and that is ok with me.
